Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

          Easter has come once again to St Hyacinth this Sunday. Due to the pandemic, the Sacraments of Initiation were not celebrated at the Easter Vigil and we did not get the opportunity to bring the new candidates and Catechumens into the Church; however, the time is now to bring into the church all those who have been prepared to enter over the past year. During the Noon Mass this Sunday, we will celebrate the rites of Initiation into the Catholic Church. Please continue to pray for all those new members of the Church who are celebrating their initiation today. 

          During this time unprecedented challenges in the Church, I am encouraging the entire Church community to use our electronic formats for the dissemination of information from our parish. We have our website: Sthyacinth.org, Flocknotes, and Facebook. Please go ahead and subscribe to our St. Hyacinth YouTube channel for videos and live stream updates, and video of the Sunday Mass. All these features are can be access on our parish website, Sthyacinth.org. 

          There is a program that I want to challenge everyone to watch on FORMED.org. “Put Not Your Trust in Princes” By Christopher Check. Mr. Check speaks to the time that we are in and provides a catholic perspective of the crisis of our age. The FORMED.org parish password is 77GVZ3.

          We have been watching Mass from the couch, now we can support PARISH from there too! Using PLATFORM to set up your recurring Offertory donation can be done in about 5 minutes.           Open our Hearts: a Pastoral letter on racism was released in 2018 by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops. The USCCB describes this letter as “But racism still profoundly affects our culture, and it has no place in the Christian heart. This evil causes great harm to its victims, and it corrupts the souls of those who harbor racist or prejudicial thoughts. The persistence of the evil of racism is why we are writing this letter now.” I am challenging every one of our parish to go download this letter and review it. Please go to parish website and  click directly on the banner/ tile named “Open our Hearts” and it will take you to the pastoral letter. 

          

          The Knights of Columbus Council 10574 are taking orders for a Tamale Sale. Tamales will be available in Pork, Chicken, or Bean and can be mild or spicy. The cost is $12.00 per dozen and all profits from the sale will be donated to the church. Orders can be placed by email at srod52@gmail.com and by text or phone at 956-245-5237.          Pick up day will be September 19, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM by drive through in the church parking lot on "P" Street.            Registration for Faith Formation classes has begun.  All classes for all grades will be offered online through January 2021.   Families will be able to work at their own pace as they follow the online home study material that will be provided.           Cardinal DiNardo has addressed everyone in the Archdiocese with a letter in regards to the Hurricane Laura relief efforts for our neighbors in East Texas and Louisiana. A special Hurricane Laura relief resource page has been set up at www.archgh.org/laurarecovery  .This page will be updated as new information becomes available regarding the needs in Beaumont and Lake Charles in the aftermath of the storm.
